HIFU ( High Intensity Focused Ultrasound)

What is HIFU Skin Tightening?

Revitalise your face, neck, and body with High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) – an advanced, non-surgical treatment designed to lift, tighten, and firm the skin. HIFU helps improve the appearance of sagging skin while encouraging a smoother, more youthful-looking complexion, without the need for surgery or lengthy downtime.

HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. As new collagen develops, the skin gradually becomes firmer, tighter, and more lifted, with results continuing to improve over the following weeks and months.

HIFU can also be used on certain areas of the body to help improve skin firmness and support body contouring. In some cases, it may help reduce stubborn pockets of fat when combined with a healthy lifestyle and realistic expectations.

Common Areas HIFU Can Treat

HIFU can be used to target a range of areas on the face and body, including:

  • Forehead – softens the appearance of fine lines and helps lift the brows.

  • Eye area – improves the appearance of under-eye skin and crow’s feet.

  • Cheeks – helps reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds and improves skin firmness.

  • Chin – targets the appearance of a double chin and jowls.

  • Jawline – helps define and contour the jawline for a more sculpted look.

  • Neck and décolletage – improves the appearance of wrinkles and loose or crepey skin.

  • Body – can help improve skin firmness and support body contouring. In some areas, HIFU may also help reduce stubborn pockets of fat.

For enhanced results, HIFU can often be combined with other complementary treatments as part of a personalised treatment plan. During your consultation, we will assess your skin, discuss your goals, and recommend the most suitable treatment plan to help you achieve the best possible results.

How does Hifu Skin Tightening works?

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is a non-invasive treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy to stimulate the skin’s natural repair process. By delivering energy to precise depths beneath the skin’s surface, HIFU encourages the production of new collagen and elastin, helping to improve skin firmness and elasticity over time.

As we age, our bodies naturally produce less collagen and elastin – the proteins responsible for keeping our skin firm, smooth, and youthful. As these levels decline, the skin gradually loses its elasticity, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging.

HIFU works by creating tiny thermal coagulation points within the deeper layers of the skin while leaving the surface untouched. This controlled response stimulates the body’s natural healing process, encouraging the production of fresh collagen. As new collagen develops, the skin becomes firmer, tighter, and more lifted, with improvements continuing over the following weeks and months.

Can HIFU Be Used for Body Slimming?

Yes. In addition to skin tightening, HIFU can also be used to support body contouring in selected areas of the body.

The treatment delivers focused ultrasound energy to targeted areas, helping to reduce stubborn pockets of fat while also stimulating collagen production to improve skin firmness. Over time, the body naturally processes and removes the treated fat cells, resulting in a slimmer, more contoured appearance for some clients.

Common treatment areas include the abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, hips, and upper arms. HIFU is ideal for targeting localised fat that can be resistant to diet and exercise, but it is not a weight-loss treatment. The best results are achieved when combined with a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and a balanced diet.

Following treatment, the skin in the treated area may also appear firmer and tighter as new collagen is produced over the following weeks and months.

How Long Does HIFU Skin Tightening Take to Work?

Some clients notice an initial tightening effect shortly after treatment. However, because HIFU works by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production, the most noticeable results typically develop gradually over 8 to 12 weeks. Improvements can continue for up to 6 to 7 months as new collagen continues to form.

Treatment times vary depending on the area being treated. Most HIFU sessions take between 30 and 90 minutes. During your consultation, we will assess your concerns, discuss your goals, and advise you on the expected treatment time and the number of sessions recommended to achieve the best possible results.

What Is the Downtime After HIFU?

HIFU is a non-invasive treatment, so there is little to no downtime, and most clients can return to their normal daily activities immediately after their appointment.

Following treatment, you may experience mild tenderness or aching in the treated area, similar to the feeling after an intense workout. Some clients may also notice slight redness, swelling, tingling, or sensitivity, but these effects are usually mild and temporary, typically settling within a few hours to a few days.

Your beauty therapist will provide you with personalised aftercare advice to help you achieve the best possible results and ensure a comfortable recovery.

Does HIFU Hurts?

HIFU is generally well tolerated, and most clients experience only mild to moderate discomfort during treatment. You may feel a warm sensation or small pulses of energy as the ultrasound is delivered beneath the skin. Any discomfort is temporary and usually stops as soon as the treatment is complete

How Many HIFU Treatments Will I Need?

Many clients achieve noticeable results after just one treatment, making HIFU an excellent option for non-surgical skin tightening. However, the number of sessions recommended will depend on factors such as your age, skin condition, treatment area, and desired results.

To maintain your results, a maintenance treatment may be recommended every 6 to 12 months, depending on your individual needs and how your skin responds to treatment.

HIFU can also be combined with other complementary treatments to enhance your results. During your free, no-obligation consultation, your beauty therapist will assess your skin, discuss your goals, and create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.

Who Is Not Suitable for HIFU Treatment?

HIFU is a safe and effective treatment for many people; however, it is not suitable for everyone. You may not be able to have HIFU treatment if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Have an active skin infection, open wound, or cold sore in the treatment area.

  • Have severe acne or certain inflammatory skin conditions in the treatment area.

  • Have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic medical device (depending on the treatment area).

  • Have metal implants in the treatment area (unless your beauty therapist confirms it is safe to proceed).

  • Have a history of keloid scarring or poor wound healing.

  • Have a serious medical condition that may affect healing.

  • Have recently had dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections, or other aesthetic treatments in the same area (your beauty therapist will advise on the appropriate waiting period).

HIFU is also not recommended for clients with excessive skin laxity or very significant sagging, where surgical treatment may be a more suitable option.

Before your treatment, you will receive a thorough consultation to discuss your medical history, assess your suitability, and ensure HIFU is the safest and most appropriate treatment for you.
